I have been purchasing creeper wings and would like to start making my own. Has anyone tried this? Any tips you could offer on cutting, bending, etc?
Also, what thickness of stainless should I be using?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

unless you have some kind of new rad shape better off to keep buying. But if you are set on giving it a go use .025. with this you can cut by tin snip or band saw(rough cut) then shape by file. Easy to bend to shape as well, just bend it down on a dowel and tweek it from there.

mskyadk,
Thanks for the input. You are probably right, it would be easier to keep buying them, but I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy and thought I should give it a try.
Thanks

I would experiment with aluminum. It will be as rust resistant as stainless steel, add less weight, and be far, FAR easier to bend, drill, and file. Working in machining and tool & die for 20 or so years, I can tell you that stainless steel has a tendency to work harden as it gets bent, punched, and drilled.
I believe the Heddon Crazy Crawler uses aluminum wings.
Brass would work as well, except a little heavier. Polished up and coated, it might even give a little flash.

Hello everyone, my name is Stevign. I have been fishing almost all of my life but mainly lake fishing for bass etc. while growing up in Indiana. About 2 years ago I started river fishing for the 1st time. I live in Washington State now, fish the Skagit River and mostly catch Dolly Varden trout and Steelhead. I "hope" to start catching salmon as well this summer when the Humpies season comes around.
